Education and community engagement are central to the mission of the Coachella Valley History Museum. We are proud to offer meaningful opportunities for students and families to learn, explore, and connect with history.
"Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another." - G. K. Chesterton
CVHM’s staff and volunteers are committed to preserving the Coachella Valley’s history by sharing it with the area’s youngest residents and their families through education and outreach, including our after-school Junior Historians Program and Young At Art Summer Camps.
For teachers, School Tours are the perfect way to engage young minds. Incorporate your in-class curriculum with hands-on experience. All tours are led by an experienced school tour docent who will educate and entertain in equal measure. Our Virtual Tours on YouTube are also a great way to enjoy an in-depth look at the history of the Coachella Valley, from the classroom or home, with presentations delivered by our kid-friendly docent team. Learn more about each of these programs below.
Third grade classes are invited to visit the grounds with their students to take a tour of the Museum led by one of our knowledgeable and kid-friendly School Tour Docents.
Visit the Blacksmith Shop and the Desert Submarine, and take a lesson in the 1909 Schoolhouse.
Please contact our School Tours Coordinator to schedule your visit.
